Ruffled Feathers

Still a mess of bumps and nubbins

Icarus is at least off the needles, so I don’t have to feel guilty about always picking up the Norwegian Stockings first. I need something on which to block now. (I should’ve saved that giant cardboard box I left in my car for two weeks…darn.)

I’m quite happy with it so far–I used a 3.0mm needle (US 2.5) instead of a 3.25mm (US 3) and took out two repeats of the first chart, so it’s the perfect shawlette size for me.

Well, until I block this, here’s a link to a finished lace object that could either inspire or deflate me: Sharon Miller’s Spring Shawl by Miss Alice Faye. Almost 1600 yards of gossamer weight yarn. Just…wow.

That spring shawl is pretty incredible. For blocking I made boards but the interlocking foam mats (they have them at target and walmart as well as other places) are fantastic. Before I made my boards I used a yoga mat.
